How Mediation Can Save You Money
Friday, July 3rd, 2009Everyone knows getting divorced can be pretty costly. Some estimates are that a married couple spends about $10,000 each or $20,000 total in attorneys fees when divorcing. Divorce mediation is considerably less expensive, the estimate for that being about $2500.00. The main reason for the huge savings is that when you each hire an attorney to represent you each attorney must “zealously” defend your side. And trust me I know there are many times where that is precisely what is called for. That takes time, which is money when you hire an attorney. But there are instances where both sides do not want a war and just want to move on with their lives. Mediation is about resolving conflicts and finding a solution both sides can live with. This usually takes alot less time and therefore costs less money. In these times saving money is something we are all looking to do. And because divorce in and of itself is usually a financial setback for most people this is a very important factor.
