Depression |
| |
| |
There are many variations of depression. Some are more chronic than others. Everyone who has ever been depressed has been described by others as having the “blues” or “being down.” The signs are visible and concrete. There is a change in appetite, sleeping patterns, and low energy. Depression gives a negative perception of oneself, ultimately taking ones’ self esteem away. Depression slows down ones’ sharp concentration to a point of forgetfulness or inability in making difficult decisions. Lastly, one’s feelings of optimism and passion for life are completely substituted with the emptiness that comes with hopelessness. Now, that you are informed of all its ugliness then the question should be: How do we make it pretty, again? |

However, anxiety becomes a problem when it begins to paralyze your life. Fear is the dominating factor. For many, the fear intensifies and interferes with our daily living by robbing us of our sleep, changing our eating habits, and altering our moods. In some cases, anxiety even disrupts our bodies with physical symptoms that can resemble heart attacks such as, palpitations and shortness of breath. Don’t allow the anxiety in you control your life. |

Childhood Trauma |
| |
| |
Those who have experienced trauma as a child have a normal human response to a painful, frightening experience. It can feel overwhelming to have intense reactions to certain situations and wonder if these reactions have to do with the past. Therapy helps to make the connection between past and current situations. It also helps to uncover triggers and learn new ways of responding. As treatment progresses, clients learn how to manage emotions and begin to see the strength and resilience they have always possessed. It takes courage to face the pain and begin to heal. It is the process of letting go and recognizing these experiences do not define who you are. Our approach to helping clients work through trauma is to help them find their strengths; ultimately discovering and embracing who they really are. |
